Case Study: Magicdust

Magicdust is a Fast 100 company. When I joined their team the annual revenue was $630,000 - it then DOUBLED in year 2 ($1,200,000) and had more than QUADRUPLED by year 4 ($2,608,000).

This sort of rapid growth is often accompanied by poor cash management and even losses due to an unhealthy obsession with revenue growth.

Magicdust made a conscious effort to practice good financial management before expanding. This laid the foundation for consistent profit and healthy cash positions through multiple economic crises.

I collected and reported a wide range of key metrics, allowing us to:

  • Track progress towards desired outcomes

  • Continuously improve operations, profitability and cash flow

  • Reserve cash for taxes, working capital, etc

  • Know how much cash should be used for reinvesting in growth and how much should be distributed as profit

  • See early warning signs in every part of the business and make course corrections

  • Forecast 3 years ahead in profit, balance sheet and cash
